Stalemate by Iris Johansen Eve Duncan, forensic sculptor, is drawn into a sculpting job by a Columbian arms dealer. The lure is that he’ll find her daughter’s killer…since he (and all readers) knows she’s obsessed with finding whoever took her daughter way too many years ago. So Eve runs off to Columbia (alone) and Joe Quinn follows her. The crux of the story is her time in and around Montalvo’s Columbian compound. Is Montalvo as bad as he seems? Who’s the traitor in his camp? Will Eve and Joe live? Will Eve and Joe get back together (he should dump her)? There are plenty of unanswered questions for more soap opera stories like this one. |
