Obsession by Jonathan Kellerman

On her deathbed, an obsessive-compulsive nurse (Patty) mumbles something about a “terrible thing” to her adopted obsessive-compulsive daughter (Tanya). Having treated both of them years ago, Alex agrees to meet with Tanya again. Alex, of course, passes the info on to Milo and the police take on this vague case with gusto. As the police investigate the possible murder Patty may have committed, persons of interest end up dead and the police keep following leads to nowhere or somewhere.

It’s refreshing to have Petra back on the scene again, perhaps the only good thing about this book. Tanya is an obsessive pain; any nineteen-year-old that still refers to her mother as “Mommy” is nuts. There are a lot of characters that were confusing for most of the book. There’s not much excitement or intrigue in this story. I didn’t feel compelled to finish the book, but did.
