Mr. Perfect

Four women, Jaine, TJ, Luna and Marci, always get together after work on Fridays for a beer, supper and girl talk at their favorite suburban Detroit bar. One Friday the talk is about men and, feeling good after a few drinks, they come up with a list of attributes they’d like in the perfect man. They list mostly personality traits, but also get into some physical traits as well. By Monday morning, the List is in the Company newsletter, in emails, and on the Internet. Soon local newspapers and TV stations have bumped it up to their national counterparts. Good Morning America tapes an interview. Obviously their little bit of fun has gotten totally out of control.

Two weeks ago, Jaine moved into her first house and is trying to get used to her sometimes grungy, sometimes noisy, ever-the-hunk neighbor, Sam…a cop. They get off to a shaky start on neighborliness, but eventually begin to treat each other more kindly. With three broken engagements in her past, Jaine is wary of Sam’s charms, but their relationship soon becomes more caring.

The fun and games come to an end when Marci is found dead in her home, badly beaten about the face and stabbed. The other three women are getting mysterious phone calls. Then Jaine’s house is ransacked. The nastiness doesn’t end there. Is someone ticked about the List to the point of murder?

Even though this is a mystery, the author writes with a wry sense of humor that had me laughing many times. The author has carefully woven a funny, sexy mystery that keeps you guessing for a while about whodunit.
