Night Sins

Eight-year-old Josh Kirkwood disappeared after hockey practice one frigid January night outside the ice rink in Deer Lake, MN. His mom, Dr. Hannah Garrison, was supposed to pick him up, but was delayed because of accident victims being brought to the ER. His dad, Paul Kirkwood, hadn’t gotten the message to pick Josh up because he was too involved with ‘work’.

Mitch Holt is the Deer Lake Chief of Police. Megan O’Malley is the field agent from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension newly assigned to the Deer Lake district. Sparks fly and electricity bolts between these two throughout the book. She’s the first woman to get such an assignment and she must do well.

The abductor left a note in Josh’s book bag the night he disappeared. He/she leaves other notes along the way. One character is an obvious suspect; any number of other citizens could be the culprit, too. Is there more than one person involved? Add in Paul and Hannah’s already crumbling marriage, Paul’s affair with their neighbor, weird Deacon Fletcher who’s overly obsessed with religion, the nerdy computer professor, and an obnoxious TV reporter who’s out to make a name for herself at anyone’s expense and you have an intriguing story.
