Unlucky in Law

Yes, this is the tenth Nina Reilly story by the sister duo, Pamela & Mary O’Shaughnessy. It is a continuation of circumstances established in Presumption of Death (see it in my Archives) and is set in Carmel as well.

Nina has stayed in Carmel at the house her aunt left her. Her long time boyfriend, Paul von Wagoner, has popped the question even though she won’t give him an answer right away. However, she wears the ring as she moves through her current trial.

She has been hired by Klaus Pohlman’s firm (her law school mentor) to help him defend Stefan Wyatt against grave robbing and possible murder charges. Why her; why can’t others in the law firm help him? Stefan was hired to dig up the bones from the grave of a Russian, but found a garbage bag full of bones on top of that casket…bones that turned out to be the deceased’s daughter’s bones. Alex, the son and brother of the two deceased, is a likely suspect. As the trial moves along, a few surprises pop up.

For once, the authors didn’t have Nina getting into impossible situations. The story moves along fairly well and leaves the door open for the next book in the series.
