| The Twelfth Card
Thompson Boyd, a professional killer, has been hired to kill Geneva Settle, a sixteen-year-old African-American girl. Why? Who hired Boyd? This is the crux of the latest Lincoln Rhyme novel. The first attack on Geneva was at the African-American museum where she was researching her ancestors. Since Boyd took the microfilm she was reading, it was assumed she was targeted for some reason attached to her great grandfather. Rhyme, Ameilia Sachs and their police cohorts follow leads, catch assorted bad guys and eventually realize the real reason for the many attempts on Geneva's life and who was ultimately behind the project. This story, like all of Deaver's, has surprises where you least expect them. If you've enjoyed other Deaver books, you'll want this one, too. |
