Mackenzie (Mac) Morgan and her fifteen-year-old daughter, IsaBella (Bella), are on a photo shoot in the Appalachians. They're having a great weekend together without Marlow, the soon-to-be-ex. Out of nowhere comes a guy on horseback with a packhorse and two dogs. Dell is polite to them until he nearly beats Mac to death, buries her under a pile of big stones, and kidnaps Bella. Somehow Mac miraculously frees herself and hikes for help. The rest of the story is the search and rescue, led by Caleb Howell, wonder tracker. The author goes into great detail at times describing the great outdoors as well as the characters. The love story subplot was fine. Who hired Dell was pretty easy to figure out. But the heroine was way past believable--even for fiction. Don't rush to get the book. |
