The Cold Moon by Jeffrey Deaver Gerald Duncan (a/k/a The Watchmaker) seems to delight in killing seemingly random victims in sadistic, horrific ways. His accomplice is Vincent Reynolds. Gerald leaves a clock and cryptic note at each scene. Of course, Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs are brought in to investigate the cases as the two criminals go about their killings. But, this time Amelia is also the lead homicide investigator on another case involving police corruption. So is this two stories in one? Amelia gets some disturbing news during her investigation and that leads to a major decision for her. The Watchmaker and his buddy score the first two of the ten planned murders, but three and four are foiled…will they be able to pull off the other six? Is anything as it seems? As usual, Mr. D. provides twists and turns and surprises that only he can concoct. If you’re a Lincoln and Amelia fan, you won’t want to miss this one. |
